November 25 Guest Artist Angie Yelton

Angie Yelton is a mom, a wife, and an artist, although not necessarily in that order. She hails from Northern Indiana, where she drives a giant Twinkie to fund her life and artistic endeavors.

Angie has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She's dabbled in various mediums, with modeling clay being the clear favorite until she discovered ceramics in high school. Her teacher, Lynda Price, was an amazing artist in her own right, that instilled the love for clay in all of her students. After a few college courses and a personal hiatus, Angie began playing in the mud again eight years ago and hasn't been clean since!

For Angie, working with clay is a spiritual experience. To her, there's nothing more grounding than using the Elements to create unique works of art. She starts with clay, which is of the Earth, uses Water to make that clay malleable, sculpts before letting Air dry it, and Fires it in the kiln for the finishing touches. Angie's Love for the art brings it all together. Her inspiration comes mainly from characters and creatures she's read about in mythology, fairy tales, nature, and fantasy worlds.

Her biggest passion is showing people that anyone can create. She has enjoyed teaching simple ceramic hand building classes for a time in her community. Her dream is to one day own and operate a community art studio in her town.
